So Erin’s husband came to me in December of 2020 asking if I could do a bed quilt for Erin as a Christmas gift. Sir…It is December, do you mean next Christmas?!?
I of course told him I would, but I needed more time. I completed it in time for her birthday (June 6) of 2021. I planned a surprise trip to KC and surprised her with her quilt and a night out with our KC crew. She and I were also very pregnant ❤️🫣. I went the very last week that I was able to do air travel with my big baby belly. So glad for that memory!
I also made most of this in Feb 2021 when we had the ice storm in Dallas. I was on a quilt retreat that was extended by 3 days due to weather … not a bad place to be stuck since most of Dallas was out of power. we were at the Retreat at the End of the Road outside of Athens, TX. This quilt was so large I had to hang it from the balcony railing to get a full photo!
The name was inspired by the backing fabric – Tiger Lily trail by Teresa Chan. Jamie (the husband) has a mirrored tiger wall art in their powder room and Erin does not like it. It’s very 70s vibe. The tigers in this print reminded me of that mirror.
